we'll see what makes this team unique. osama bin laden's death has taken on special significance in washington state. plans are in the works for a 9/11 memorial. in a nondescript garage there were two twisted hunks of steel. they were once part of the world trade center. the steel was draped in the american flag once considered evidence of osama bin laden's evil. soon they will stand on end as part of the 9/11 memorial. >> it's going to be something where the local community will feel and see, you know, a piece of some history. >> reporter: now the plan is to put them along the waterfront. they will be joined by two pieces of stone from the pentagon. the goal is to share stories of heroism. final stages of design for the memorial are underway. the plan is set to be complete pie september 11th -- by september 11th of next year. organizers of the memorial

in jessup. >> reporter: they are trying to determine what killed najib abdullah. the 5-year-old spent five days with his father's corpse. a woman said she would never forget. >> so sad. he had the biggest eyes. he said i'm thirsty. and my daddy's dead. >> reporter: the search for 26-year-old najib abdullah began last tuesday after an alleged assault on his father a few blocks away. a call to police -- >> we had a warrant for his arrest for that assault. there was a broken window in this house. there was no one leaf -- living there. we suspect he breck in. >> reporter: the owner said they discovered the broken window and notified police medley. >> they came, did a search, got

have found the boy. one year ago today yeardley love was murdered in her apartment. tonight her alma mater, notre dame is remembering her. she was found dead in her apartment at the university of virginia. her ex-boyfriend, george huguely is charged with her murder. the school wants to keep her memory arrive. they are awarding the first yeardley love scholarship to amber waynewright. the academy is remembering her with an event called bringing out the yeardley in everyone. new at 11 tonight, we are continuing our series, maryland cold cases with a new story. tonight 24-year-old janice potter was in the prime of her life. her whole life ahead of her, but on a rainy night that was all

we have a severe thunderstorm watch but it's for points far to our west. you can see the storms pushing in on the satellite as well. temperatures well up into the mid-80s. we're still at 80-degree plus, frederick, washington. for now the storms will be way west. we talk about that and look ahead to much cooler weather. it's all coming up. if you drive a honda or acura, honda motor company is expanding one of its air bags recalls. 833,000 more vehicles from model years 2001 through 2003 should be checked out. last year the japanese automaker recalled more than 437,000 vehicles because of some air bag concerns. apparently faulty components can cause the air bags to deploy too forcibly.

the good news is companies are finally hiring again. the bad news is some of those job offers aren't offers at all. >> many people are looking for work these days. the most popular place to search, the big job hunting websites. it seems more and more jobs

advertised online or scams hoping to get your money. mike is looking for work. so he listed his resume on a number of popular employment websites. >> i started receiving these emails from these companies that actually had legitimate names. >> reporter: that's when this college grad started noticing red flags of bogus job offers. >> they said they needed somebody with a good credit rating. >> reporter: which leads to red flag number two. any company that wants you to pay for a credit check right off the back. >> they sent me a check, and it looked like a cashier's check. >> reporter: red flag number three. any company that wants you to deposit money for mystery shopping or any other reason.

>> one company wanted me to be a pay tell manager. >> reporter: the biggest red flag, companies wanting account numbers or money even before an interview. >> you want to be careful for anyone who asks for money upfront. that's a huge red flag. >> reporter: remember, this college grad was almost fooled and you could be, too. >> these were real companies. >> reporter: but somebody usedder that name. >> someone had stolen their name. >> reporter: be aware of any job listing involving depositing checks or anything to do with foreign companies. while some foreign companies can be legit, many are offshore scam artists looking to entrap me. the state's casinos may be hiring. they made $13.6 million last

the moment. that could change, though, later this evening. 81 at the airport and winds south at 10. take a look at deep creek lake with our hd weather net camera at the sky valley lodge. you see the clouds rolling in and the showers as well. much cooler air. they're only in the 50s right now. mt. airy, closer to home. on the west side of town you see clouds billowing up. skies looking a little more active west of town in frederick. at the moment, all the thunderstorm action well north and west of baltimore from cumberland to southern pennsylvania, breezewood and then we've got the possibility of hagerstown will experience scattered thunderstorm activity in relatively short order. temperatures have been the big story for most of the middle and eastern two thirds. warm weather well into the 80s.

take a look at the highs. 86 at the inner har bamplet tomorrow talk about a change. 58 or so will be it in ruxton, canton. right now you can see more of the intense thunderstorm action is north of the state line up into central pennsylvania. we have plenty of rain, big line of showers, a long line of wet weather from basically upstate new york back down through alabama and mississippi. so the whole line headed in our direction, we'll look forward to arriving later this evening. last-minter rands -- last-minute errands, good weather to do it. as it begins to push in after 7:00, 8:00, look for rain on and off and hanging out through the first half of our wednesday

before it finally pushes offshore by 5:00 or 6:00. so the last of our state probably not clearing. thursday looks like a much drier day, good looking day for cinco de mayo, thunderstorms. tomorrow we're looking at 58. it will be murky with rain showers the first part of the day tomorrow. tomorrow night clearing skies, quite a bit cooler. as we go down to the low 40s, seven-day forecast, bouncing back. one thing about may that sun's getting more intense. you have to clear the skies like we will on thursday. you're immediately back up close to 70. i think we get to 70 friday and saturday. right now we're looking at the possibility of a batch of showers coming in saturday night

no blackout dates, and no red tape. men, women and heart disease. a study shows women are getting short changed. health graced find big differences in the treatment given to male and female treatments while the number of heart bypass surgeries have increased, only a third who suffered a heart attack had surgery compared to half of men.

the death rate was higher for women. the greatest difference was seen in heart valve replacement where women had a 4.5% greater risk of dying. doctors know that obesity increase as person's risk of heart disease. doctors found that waist size provides a far more accurate way to determine a person as chance from dying from heart disease, that heart patients with a higher ratio of waist to hip circumference or large waist size was 70% more likely to die during the study period than those with smaller waists. gout, that is a severely painful condition that a lot of people can suffer from. a lot of people have no idea they have it. gout is a type of arthritis that forms when sharp crystal forms.
